Poem #15 Thirty Poems in Thirty Days

Spring Day In Boston

Art students set up sidewalk tables—
Peddlers of graphite nudes,
charcoal still-lifes, brash acrylic landscapes
and abstractions with novel names.

Music Conservatory students toss a Frisbee
while Friday traffic stands by

A man sits on a bench talking to a dog,
“Sit. Sit” he says to a dog no one sees
“Sit,” I say.

A young man,
his pants hanging below his hips
carries a fluorescent skateboard

Two geese cross the street—
It’s spring.
