ABC Wednesday : The Letter J

The Dance of the Jug

“A jug fills drop by drop.”

Whether you listen to a piece of music, or a poem, or look at a picture or a jug, or a piece of sculpture, what matters about it is not what it has in common with others of its kind, but what is singularly its own.
—Basil Bunting

Mankind are earthen jugs with spirits in them.
—Nathaniel Hawthorne

  4. Looks like our North Carolina pottery. I always feel so dumb at all of the things I didn't think of that go with the letters of the alphabet. I'm going to start a list for the next round. J is for jug! Brilliant!

  5. sharp photos
Is this your creation? (I'm an artist but not a sculptor.)
    Great quote.

  6. I believe this is an old American jug—not one of the antique ones. I found it in a yard full of early American treasures. When we get to "M" I'll post the maple basket I found in the same yard.
