Digression

Teaching is
the parsing of thought,
a sifting out
of undigested
spinoffs
too brittle
to gain a footing.

She asks
a question
and waits.

An ibis
striking a pose,
resting.

A bee enters
the room,
an aerialist
capturing an audience.

  1. Delightful. Word-painting indeed and such simple and delicate strokes.

  4. I saw her clearly in the ibis striking a pose. And you remind me why I never wanted to teach children, who can compete with a bee?

  5. Linda, delightful and true. This teacher relates. You've captured that kind of moment so well. Each stanza is so good, and the whole thing - awesome. I'm still smiling.
