L is for Lupines

  1. There are pink and blue lupines all over the woods around here, but the rain has them late this year. I love the look of them and even pick them for a vase inside.

  5. I just watched a nature TV program that showed how Lupines defend themselves (and their neighbours) from Spotted Knapweed by the release of chemicals, - beautiful and dangerous (to the knapweed, that is....)

  8. I love lupine. When I lived in California, poppies and a small version of lupine grew everywhere in the spring, especially along the ugly freeways. At my cabin, I have several of the giant variety like in your picture growing on floating logs near my cabin. I don't know where the seeds came from, but they are beautiful. - Margy
